Recipe to make veg momo with Century Momo masala

Wrapping and steaming the momo is not the tricky part, but making stuffing right for the Veg. Momo is actually the task. There are many methods of making stuffing for veg momo and every recipe tastes different than another.

Following this recipe, you will get a savory taste in your Veg. Momo. While making stuffing, this recipe uses Century momo masala, the best momo masala that suits any momo stuffing. Ingredients:

  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Water

Step 1:

In the bowl, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, one-fourth tsp salt, and half tsp oil. Mix it very well.

Step 2:

Add 4 to 5 tbsp water, then begin to knead. Continue kneading until the dough comes into shape.

Step 3:

If your dough comes out rough, you may add 1 or 2 tbsp of water.

Step 4:

Keep on kneading until your dough takes a proper share. Make sure your dough is not too soft because it will be difficult to give shape.

Step 5:

Now you need to keep the dough to rest for 30 minutes. Wrap the dough with a kitchen towel to let it rest.

Preparing veg momo stuffing

Ingredients:

  • Oil
  • Onion
  • Green onion
  • Soy sauce
  • Black pepper
  • Century momo masala
  • Salt
  • Garlic
  • Cabbage
  • Carrot
  • French beans
  • Capsicum
  • Button mushroom

Step 1:

Drain the vegetables to get rid of dirt.

Step 2:

Finely chop all the vegetables like carrot, cabbage, French beans, capsicum, and button mushroom. You will need two and a half cups of vegetable stuffing. However, capsicum and button mushrooms are optional ingredients so, you may skip using them. If you have a mushroom better to use it for meaty texture, and it also adds a nice flavor to momo.

Step 3:

Heat the pan with half tsp oil. Use a thick bottom pan to avoid burning the vegetables. If you are using a pan with a thin bottom, then work in low flame. Depending upon the temperature of the pan, you can adjust the flame.

Step 4:

When the oil is hot, add half tsp finely chopped garlic. Stir the garlic for few seconds on the medium-low flame. If you are using a pan with a thick bottom, you can do the entire process in a medium-low flame.

Step 5:

Add finely chopped red onion. You will need one small size red onion. If you are using medium size onion, you will need just half of it.

Step 6:

Stir the onion for 15 to 20 seconds. Stir onion until it turns into golden brown color.

Step 7:

Add all the chopped vegetables. Stir the vegetables. If you are using a thin bottom pan, stir the vegetables on low flame.

Step 8:

Stir the vegetables for 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 9:

Add one tsp soy sauce, half tsp black pepper, one tbsp Century momo masala, and salt as per your taste. However, adding half tbsp salt is sufficient to prepare the stuffing for veg momo.

Step 10:

Continue to stir the vegetables for another 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 11:

Switch off the flame and add finely chopped two tbsp green onions. Stir the stuffing. Check the taste and add salt, pepper, or soy sauce if needed.

Step 12:

Keep the stuffing to cool.

Shaping and steaming momo

Step 1:

Divide the dough into the 12gm portion.

Step 2:

Roll the small dough ball with a roller. Make sure to roll the dough with light pressure. If the wrapper is too thin, it may tear while steaming. So, roll the dough into a thin circle of 4 inches in diameter.

Step 3:

To avoid the wrapper from tearing, make the edges thin and the center thick. Wrappers with a thin edge will support in giving shape to momo.

Step 4:

Place two tbsp of vegetable stuffing in the center of the wrapper.

Step 5:
Give shape to the momo. One of the easiest ways to shape momo is by folding the wrapper, giving it the shape of a semi-circle then join the two ends together. Your momo is ready for steaming.

Step 6:

Keep the water to boil. And put oil to the layers of momo steamer, then put all the momo in the momo steamer.

Step 7:

When water is boiled, put the layers of momo steamer over the water to steam. Wait for 10 minutes.

Making Achar for veg momo

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes
  • Sesame seed
  • Dry red chili
  • Garlic
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt

Instructions:

Step 1:

Drain four medium-size tomatoes and fire roast the tomatoes. When fire-roasting them keep the flame low-medium. And roast it for 1 minute.

Step 2:

Fire-roast the three dry red chilies for 1 minute.

Step 3:

Heat the pan, then add sesame seed. Roast the sesame for 1 minute. Keep stirring the seeds while roasting.

Step 4:

Take grinder, then add sesame seed, red chilies, two pieces of garlic, few pinches of salt, coriander, and tomatoes. Grind them to get tomato achar for your veg momo.

Your momo and achar are ready for plating.
